ZSC is the benefitting organization for a local youth triathlon this summer.
The Kids Racing for Kids Triathlon Series (for ages 7-14) will have an event
in Zionsville on July 4th. This is a great opportunity for our younger swimmers
to try out a new sport and for our older swimmers and parents to give back.
For more information and to register visit the
Kids Racing for Kids website.
To volunteer, e-mail Shannon Ross.

Transition Area
This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Participants must know and follow the rules posted by
USA Triathlon. Visit www.USATriathlon.org for more
information. All participants must wear an approved bike helmet while on the bike.
Results will be posted on the Kids Racing for Kids website.
Prizes/medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers for each gender in every age group.
Finisher certificates will be awarded to all participants.
SWIM: The swim will take place in the 50m pool of Azionaqua Club. Participants will be started in
waves based on age-group and gender. The swim will proceed around 2 buoys placed at opposite ends
of the pool.
TRANSITION: There will be a single transition for the bike and run. Participants will run off the pool
deck and into the transition area. Family and non-participants will not be allowed in the transition
area (except for the 7-8 year old participants). Please stay clear of the participants as they exit
the pool and enter the transition area. Participants must walk or run their bikes out the north
transition entrance. There will be no riding of the bike in the transition area. All bikes will exit
and enter through the north entrance. All runners will enter (from pool) and exit to the run through
the east entrance.
BIKE: Helmets are required while participants are on the bike. Note that the southbound lane of
Willow Road will be open to local traffic. Bikers will proceed north along Willow road and turn
left into the Northfield subdivision. After completing a small loop, participants will exit Northfiled
subdivision and bikers will proceed south (right turn) along Willow Road in the Northbound (left) lane.
Remember that the southbound lane will be open to traffic. Follow directions from the volunteers and
be familiar with the race course. Bikers will return along Willow road on the bike path so there will
be only one-way bike traffic on either the road or bike path along Willow road. The bike course will
wind through two more subdivisions before finishing at the transition area.
RUN: Runners will exit the transition area and follow signs and volunteer directions. There will be
a water station just after the exit to the run. The run will proceed through Coventry Ridge subdivision.
Please follow volunteer directions and be familiar with the race course.

Volunteers Needed
|
|
We need volunteers for this event. This is not a team “requirement”
as working the Z-Freeze meet is but your help is crutial for the success of the event.
It should be a lot of fun and will not last too long. There is no practice July 4th for the team
so all the kids can compete in the triathlon and you can have premium access.
Please contact Shannon Ross if you are able to help.

Triathlon Ages
|
USA Triathlon determines age differently than USA Swimming. The athelete's age
is their age on Dec 31 of the event year.
An athlete who is currently age 6, and has their 7th birthday in 2009, is eligible to compete.
An athlete who is currently 14, but turns 15 in 2009 is NOT eligible for the event.
