Zionsville Swim Club is fortunate to have retained the services of Darrick Thomas, Paul Magoni, and Liz Hoover as our swim coaches for the 2007 long course season. Please take a minute to learn a little more about them by reading the information below. Contact information is also provided.

Darrick is entering his third year with the Zionsville Swim Club. He came to the team from Louisville, KY, where he was the Senior Coach for the Lakeside Seahawks. Before Lakeside, Darrick was an assistant coach with Western Kentucky University and the Head Coach of the Vette City Stingrays. Darrick has coached every level of swimmer from beginner to Senior National and NCAA qualifiers.  He hopes to continue to bring his experience to Zionsville’s swimmers and encourage them to strive to become the best swimmers and young people they can be.

Darrick lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Jen. They have a daughter, Kiarra, born in May of 2007.

Coach Holly Day
Head Developmental Coach

Holly Day was the co-founder of the Indy Dolphin Swim Team. She served as the Head Age Group Coach and Team Administrator for the Indy Dolphins. Since 1994 Day has coached swimmers at all levels from age groupers to masters. At the age group level, she has coached a nationally ranked (top 16) swimmers along with Indiana Top Ten swimmers, Zone Swimmers and State Champions. She has also coached many state and divisional qualifiers.

Coach Day holds a Swim America Program Directors license and is a Level 3 ASCA coach. Day served on the Indiana Swimming board as Quad and Zone team manager in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and has worked several swim camps including the Auburn Tiger Swim Camp with Coach David Marsh and Coach Kim Brackin. Day has functioned as meet director for the senior state championship and central zone meets.

Coach Day and her husband, Paul, are the parents of two children. Her daughter, Emily, is a collegiate swimmer with the University at Buffalo, New York. Her son, Chris, is a graduate from Purdue University working with Duke Energy as a Mechanical Engineer.

Paul has been an age group coach with ZSC for several years. He has great enthusiasm for swimming and coaching that inspires young swimmers. Paul was an age group swimmer in Pennsylvania and New York.

Paul received a B.S. in Political Science and History from Indiana University and later received a teaching license from Marian College. Paul currently teaches geography and world history at Zionsville Community High School.

Coach Liz Hoover
Assistant Age Group Coach

Liz has been coaching with ZSC for the past year and has always loved swimming. She started with the Lawrence Swim Team when she was 7 years old and continued swimming through high school on the Lawrence North High School Team. She received her B.F.A. from Ball State University with a degree in Graphic Design. Currently, Liz works for Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity as their Graphic/Web Designer.
